What does this Privacy Statement cover?
This Privacy Statement
provides information about personal data which are collected and processed
in the context of the Shell Online Retailer Application form and application
process.
Source of data
The source of the data is:
- the individual completing the Application Form and undertaking any
assessment; and
- Information gathered through external sources including:
- verifying the information provided in the Application Form;
and screening Applicants against publicly available or
government issued sanctions lists and media sources.
This is to comply with legal and regulatory obligations, to protect
Shell’s assets and employees/contractors and specifically to ensure that
Shell can comply with trade control, anti-money laundering and/or
bribery and corruption laws and other regulatory requirements.
What data do we process?
By completing the Shell Online Retailer
Application and assessment process, we process the following data:
- Contact details which may include your name, email, mobile phone
number, gender, date of birth and home address;
- Information about your current and previous employers or current
business and information about your education. Shell will also seek
references to assess your suitability or that of the company or
partnership that you represent;
- Financial capacity including current income, bonuses, dividends,
business profitability, real estate holdings and assets; and
- Other information which is legally required in your market.
Politically Exposed Persons
A Politically Exposed Person is an
individual who is currently or has in the recent past (last 5 years) been
entrusted with a prominent public function. For example:
- Heads of state, heads of government, ministers and deputy or
assistant ministers
- Members of parliaments
- Members of supreme courts, of constitutional courts, or other
high-level judicial bodies
- Members of courts of auditors or the boards of central banks
- Ambassadors and high-ranking officers in the armed forces (e.g. the
rank of colonel in the army, or above)
- Members of the administrative, management or supervisory bodies of
state-owned enterprises;
- an employee of any government agency, ministry or department of a
government, including any person acting in official capacity for a
government regardless of rank or position;
- any official or employee of a company wholly or partially controlled
by a government (e.g., a state-owned oil company);
- a political party or any official of one;
- any candidate for political office; or
- any officer or employee of a public international organisation, such
as the United Nations or World Bank;
We assess if you, your family members or close associates are
Politically Exposed Persons and may ask for additional information.

Purposes for processing the data collected
As well as the purposes
explained in the Privacy Notice referred to above, personal data covered by
this supplementary Privacy Statement is processed for the purposes of;
- Assessing the suitability of an applicant to become a Shell
Retailer;
- Communicating with the applicant in this respect; and
- Assessing the diversity of our Shell Retailers by gender and
race/ethnicity (but only where legally permitted)

Depending on
your location, the relevant local Shell company, as identified through the
Privacy Notice in your location and/or its affiliates within the Shell group
